• A stranger to the land... He came with the shroud of night. If he had managed to find his way to this unknown territory with the sun still high in the sky, his optics would have witnessed the glorious crystalline surfaces of the river his footfalls now took him to. Oh, but if only he knew how magnificent the shining brilliance of the rushing torrent was! Alas, the shade of nightfall had put the sheen to bed, not to mention his male oriented mind probably wouldn't have observed such aesthetics even with the light's aid.
• Unknowing, thus ungrateful, of the beauty of the terrain that glimmered through the river, he plunged his lips under its surface. No ripples or disturbance was caused with his forceful dip, no, the water was already a raging and moving organism. He was thirsty, and had the water been stagnant he would not have been able to trust it.
• A long series of moments passed before the sweat soaked brute had had his fill of liquid. He raised his skull from the torrent's edge, and took in a vast amount of the oxygen his lungs were crying for. When he exhaled, it was very visible in the cool of night by the river. He had found the drink he so desperately needed after his long travels, and he had replaced the air his lungs gave up so that he could drink... There was only one more thing that his carcass was aching for now.
• Ahh, and sure enough, next to the crashing beast of a river, there was food! Dampened with midnight dew, long emerald blades of grass. The stag's pillars moved him at the pace of an eager trot, and over to the lush feast. His fangs tore ravenously through the blades, viciously severing hundreds of pieces in one fell swoop over and over again. His belly would not find satisfaction for quite some time, this down time let thoughts roll over in his thick cranium.
• There was fresh, clean, and drinkable water here. There was a seemingly endless food supply, as well as plenty of room. He hadn't smelled the scent of any others, hunter or huntress, in quite some time. Perhaps this land was uninhabited? The latter thought shot a pulse of excitement through his veins. Had he finally found what he had traveled so long and so far to find? A home to call his own? A land he could dictate and bring in a harem to lead?
• Questions rushed through his mind, faster than the water rushed beside him. Pretty soon, however, these questions seemed trivial. He was going to stay here, even if it belonged to another. The grass was simply too good! As he munched away, he grumbled threats to this imagined lord of the lands. Let me at 'im... Not that he had smelled anyone at all, yet if he had his grumblings told any beast with ears that he could and would take them on.
• He grazed long after his stomach was filled, the meal was simply too delicious. He had made up his mind. He thrust his horns to the sky, his head reared back, and his teeth parted. A shrill scream was forced from his throat, loud and clear... His song of death to anyone who opposed him.
